pto switch question

Recommended Posts

So my PTO switch or my PTO handle is worn. I have to pull sideways and back and twist and tug on the handle to get it to push down on the switch enough to start the tractor. I have read on here that the switch is a pita to change, is there an easier way to make the contact better? Can I remove the handle pretty easy and weld some to the bottom to build it up?

The tractor is a 312 - 8.

thanks

I had the same problem on my 417, check the nylon bushings on the handle, there is one on the outside and one on on the inside end of the handle. I replaced mine because they were cracked and worn and it fixed the problem. The bushings were only a dollar a peice. Good luck with it.

If you can trust that no one will get hurt bypass the switch.
