eibbed 63 #1 Posted December 30, 2009 I purchased this tractor from Jim Huffman (JH711) a couple of weeks ago and after repeated attempts have finally successfully ( I think ) posted pictures of it. Since the PO had had it stored for some time, Jim made sure it ran before he sold it to me. Thanks again Jim. It runs great. I am hoping you guys can help me confirm its identity. The tractor SR# is 26456 The K161S SR# is C200441, SPEC # is 28626J Dave
stevasaurus 22,700 #2 Posted December 30, 2009 Dave...nice pictures. I am no expert, but I think that is not the right hood for a 753...should have the grill openings, not solid. That hood came from...maybe...an RJ...61??? That is all I noticed...looks great to me...love the round hoods. :WRS:
chazm 413 #3 Posted December 30, 2009 Nice haul Dave Have to go with Steve on the hood - my 753 's hood has opening in it Still good lookin tractor :banghead:
CasualObserver 3,408 #4 Posted December 30, 2009 Steve is correct... the 753 should have a slotted grille. That hood is from a 701. (The only full face model that had the square cutout to fit around the fuel tank.) The rest of it is plenty interesting to look at... It looks like it is a 63 model Sumadis. (Some of dis tractor and some of dis tractor! )The front axle/frame looks to be at least a 63 or 64, the shifter has been rigged and given a shift plate from who knows when and the steering wheel looks to be from an RJ or a Suburban. All that aside... if it runs and drives... it's a win in my book. Have fun with it Dave!
Horse Fanatic 49 #5 Posted December 30, 2009 Looks like it's in good shape. It must have looked "interesting" when it was lime green!
rickv1957 72 #6 Posted December 30, 2009 Even though tractor is not all original can still be made into nice Rig!!,Rick
eibbed 63 #7 Posted December 30, 2009 Hey Jason, I cracked up when I read your reply! For a second you had me going for it. I make a folder for each of my Wheelhorses and I guess I'll title this one (1963 Somadis). I originally purchased it for a backup engine and transmission for my 702, but have since changed my mind and plan on keeping it as is. I like it. For some reason, it reminds me of an 854 that I still wish I hadn't sold. It is going to be a fun tractor. And since I'm not sure what original is, I don't need to be concerned about keeping it that way. Thank all of you for your compliments Dave
buckrancher 2,679 #8 Posted December 30, 2009 I have a hood and rear fenders, tool box and lots of other parts maybe we could do some horse trading if you would be interested in trading your 701 hood where do you live?
eibbed 63 #9 Posted December 31, 2009 Hi Brian, I'm going to hang on to the hood for now. However, if I change my mind, you will be the first to know. I live in O'Fallon, IL. It is about 15 miles east of St. Louis, MO. Thanks anyway for the generous offer. Dave

Kelly 1,029 #11 Posted December 31, 2009 Yup it's a franken tractor, kinda looks like the frame, steering, dash tower and tank are 63/64, and the hood steering wheel and belt guard (smooth on the side no indent for model no) are from a 701, seat suburban/RJ or just about anything from way back then?? but if the price was right and it runs your all set. DOC in Kentucky 178 #12 Posted December 31, 2009  Hey Dave, Glad to see your still playing with WH's in O'fallon. You probably wouldn't recognize the 69 GT I bought from you. I did take it to the PA show last summer but that was before I started refurbing it. Anyway hope your doing good and have a Happy New Year.
eibbed 63 #13 Posted December 31, 2009 Hi Kelly, Thanks for your input, and yes it runs very good. Jim (JH711) was quite generous when he sold it to me. He is a pleasure to be around and do business with. It is always nice to hear from you (DOC in Kentucky). I hope you are doing well, and I look forward to pictures of your GT 14 refurb. Happy New Year to all. Dave

Ken B 3,164 #16 Posted January 14, 2010 Nice looking tractor. I agree about Jim Huffman. I bought all the parts I needed to put the mower deck on my 702 from Jim and he was more than reasonable.
KeithB 6 #17 Posted January 14, 2010 nice tractor
xring1 2 #18 Posted February 2, 2010 Looks like it's in good shape. It must have looked "interesting" when it was lime green! Could be that the lime green is Zinc Chromate paint. If it is then you got a primer that will last a looooonnnnnnnnnng time. I have done many airplane frames with ZC.
eibbed 63 #19 Posted February 2, 2010 Thanks (xring1), I think you may have solved the secret of the lime green paint! Dave
jpmcleod 4 #20 Posted February 2, 2010 Some of these guys really know their tractors. I look at the photos and enjoy reading what the experts have to say. I don't know enought to know the difference. I have a Johnny Cash "1 piece at a time" 312-8. I agree with Rick. Looks good and have fun with it.

linen beige 14 #23 Posted February 3, 2010 It's all Wheel Horse! I'd make her my go-to working round hood. And I'll support what y'all say about Jim H. I picked up my 704 from his place a few years ago. He's a really good guy.
