Recommended Posts

Kelly

I saw this on Ebay tonight I wish I had one to sell  . I've never seen one like this  What does it fit? Looks like a walk behind style. what ever it is somebody wants it, just two of them running the price on each other up, why not wait and bid at the end :D I bet the seller is lovin this lttle war. Heck he said it's not even all there. It's selling about like that front mount weight that just ended.

Edit; OOps I forgot to put the auction on here, Item number: 360026843678

I don't know how to put a direct link?

The link

Kelly -- I'm almost positive that isn't even Wheel Horse, and if it is, it's put together backwards. :D

None of my stuff drives from the flywheel side of the engine.

Time to go see if I can find what it's for. :P

Looks like one we had for a Montgomery Wards walk behind on the farm. Forgot who made them for Wards. Ours was orange though and you could take the sickle of and use a snowblower attachment on it.

Montgomery Wards had a contract with Simplicity to make walk behinds for them from 1937 until 19??.

I had an old Simplicity walk behind sickle bar once. I don't remember a lot about it, but that sheet metal guard sure looks familiar. I'm pretty sure that's a Simplicity or something that Simplicty built for somebody else.

Just to save the jumping back and forth to ebay, here are some pictures:

Notice what side the drive pulley is on:

sbm2.jpg

The CBR-32 for the old Wheel Horse mid-engine tractors has a flat (no offset bend) steel mounting bar and hooks to the frame back near the engine. The pitman rod runs back the left side of the mower and the drive pulley is on the right side.

Here's the IPL:

Here is Chris Frock's restored CBR-32 mower:

I have one of the RJ type sickle bars, It's not even close. I know I've seen one that looked like this one, but I can't put my finger on it.

Your right Stephen I hope they now what they are bidding on. Maybe after they buy it, they will post on one of the site's looking for the other parts to mount it to their WH.

One of the bidders is Jeff Coffman (wheelhorsec85) who is "here" somewhere.

The other one is "bruce909" who seems to be after a lot of WH related stuff lately.

Maybe Jeff will see this and tell us what he knows -- or doesn't know.

troy built

I had a Troy Built a couple of years ago. The sheet metal looked a lot like that, but the drive set up was way different than this one.

I'm was with Bob, thinking Jari, but the more I look at it... I think their shields were more smooth and rounded, they didn't have angle bends in them?

Chris,

Mine was the newer style vertical with the cheap drive setup that wore out every other month. I never saw the old style. The sheet metal did look like this one though, so you might be on to something.
