64s 83 #1 Posted December 19, 2009 I'm putting together a three speed transaxle and was installing new seals all around. I noticed that the axle seals sit on top of the bearings as does the break drum seal. But as for the pulley seal, if I install it even with the top of the case, there is about an 1/8 to 3/16 gap to the roller bearing. Is this normal, or has the bearing worked itself down a little. If its down, any good suggestions to get it back into position??? Thanks guys, George :notworthy:
rick 235 #3 Posted December 20, 2009 George, I have never been where you are, but I would just put the seal in and not worry....If the bearing moved on it's own, it would be unusual.

tgranthamfd 29 #6 Posted December 20, 2009 That is the way it was on my 60 Suburban 400. I just left the seal flush with the case, hope that is the way it was suposed to be. My old seal was thicker than the replacement I found. Good luck with it.
