1993 314-8 Restoration Project

Recommended Posts

The seat was off my 520 as i had a custom seat done to replace it. I cannot find these any longer at lowes. They are by for the best deal on seats out there. If anyone comes across them (made by Arnold) at Lowes, let me know. They do not show them in the system as I was told they are seasonal however maybe carry year around in the warmer southern states :notworthy:

Guys,

Getting close to finishing this one. All painted up and I used Valspar IH Red (non resto series) with hardener and thinner for the first time and I liked it. the color seemed a slight bit darker than the resto but that is a whole different topic :notworthy:

I have to add the lights, bezels, decals and get the carb and govener set up correct. the electrical was another issue. After sitting outside in the woods for about 2 or more years it took at toll on the wiring. I had to cut out the plug for the key switch and go direct to the key switch with female blade ends. Here is where we stand. Once done, I will mount up a three point and take some pics with it wokring on the manual lift.

Thanks Cody and Rick. Looking forward to finishing up this project. After this one I will put the rear end back in the C105 and clean up the carb and then park it. I then need to finish up the 55 (hood bodywork and paint). Once those projects are done then I may start on the 550 as I found a correct Lauson 5.5 for it. :notworthy:

Lookin good. :notworthy: I, personaly, hope for another video when it is finished and 3 point installed, to see how hard it will be to lift something heavy. Looking forward to your C-105, as well. You do execelent work. What kind of spraying set up do you have? Touch up gun, spary in your shop, etc....A very clean looking paint job. :WRS:

Terry,

This one started out ugly as I did not drain the water in my air compressor tank is it started to get in the line and then in the gun and paint :notworthy: I use a 30 gal compressor, simple $100 gravity feed air gun. I primed it first with rusto high build primer then sanded. After sanding i wipe it down with a cleaner like preps all or similar. I used the IH red with hardener and thinner on this one NOT the resto series.

The paint is good for a worker imo but then again this will be a worker for me. This one may replace my 416 but we will see... never say never. I will get the 3 point on this one and then display it here and ebay. Thanks-

Very Very nice.:banghead: I do not have a magnum, but I could take pictures of the govner set up, from a k (10, 14, or 16hp) or a overhead valve Kohler (15hp) for ya if it would be the same or help out.

I had all sorts of vistors today... Ken B stopped by to pick up a mint deck for his 702 and ended up helping me figure out the governer issues on the 314. She is running like a champ. With less than 300 hours on this machine it runs like new. Ken ended up with a few more goodies than he thought he would. Thanks again for the help Ken !!!

Glad to have been able too help Steve. She sure does run like new. Thanks a bunch for the tires and rims and the muffler, I really appreciate it. I will do some fab work tomm. on it, I think its going to be a real quiet one. Happy birthday!

The deck for the 702 is sweet, thanks a bunch.
