Gene_S 93 #1 Posted December 5, 2009 Hi All, I found this lawn tractor the other day when I was at a machine shop and it was just sitting in the yard. The guy said he used it this summer but the last time he used it it started running rough and died. I found the cooling system completely plugged with grass and it only has 45 pounds of compresion not to mention it was out of oil. I pulled the head off and the piston moves side to side more then supposed to and it looks like the top ring is broken or stuck. The motor is a cast iron Briggs and I'm guessing a 16 HP since it is a G-16. It has a shaft drive to the rear end with some type of variable speed set up. Over all it is in great shape just pretty dirty. I really like the low stance. The mowing deck is pretty holy but does work. Does anyone have a clue what year this may be? It even has a working cig lighter but no beer holder . Thanks for looking! Gene

Bow_Extreme 544 #6 Posted December 5, 2009 Gilson was a fairly popular tractor. You should be able to find some parts around and maybe even some web forums for Gilson Tractors. That one appears to be somewhat taken care of. Nice Find!! :notworthy:
