Paint for Raider 14 in the UK

Recommended Posts

The_Tyke

I'm afraid the US gang won't be able to help on this one, so can I ask UK Wheel Horse owners who have done a restoration what paint they used.

Before I start I want to get the paint ready so I can crack straight on with a strip and rebuild.

As always pics of restorations speak better than words! :notworthy:

Hmmm

My dream tractor is an MF 135, but I love my Wheel Horse as well!!!

I've got a picture of me aged about 3 years old sat on an MF 135 in our garden. I'll have to dig that out and post it somewhere.

I used Case IH red off of ebay UK, it seems ok, not sure if it is close to the original colour though (Warning... dont order the Case IH white, I did and it doesnt look great on wheelhorse wheels, bit dark, I will post a pic of mine, when I figure out how!).

I think the paint works out at about

Simon

I want to protect it for the future, so it's going to get painted.

As I've mentioned before it's going to be working doing some field topping and if I can find a rotary brush it can do the yard in summer when it gets really dusty with all the topsoil.

Thanks for the info on the paint. I had thought about painting it the same colour as my Landy!

I had also considered stove enamelling, but I think that might be expensive!!!

Andy,

Your Landy colour isnt too far off is it?! Sounds like a good plan, might be expensive getting the paint though?

Glad you got it running, its a very satisfying moment I remember well (mine had not run for 15 years plus), was a bit of a struggle to get it running right!
