JimD 3,345 #1 Posted November 30, 2009 in the process of refurbishing the C85, i discovered that the drain plug came out in about a 3/4 turn. i have it out and drained it to prepare for seal removal and cleaning before paint. the threads are stripped and will at the least need chased. so this is an unexpected fix. i was amazed it didn't leak all the gear lube out. i'm hoping to just chase the threads with a tap and move on, but i'm usually not that lucky. if not i'll drill it out and tap it for the next larger size plug. on a lighter note, the leaking axle seals lubeed the hubs up nicely so that they came off easy...
tarcoleo 119 #2 Posted November 30, 2009 With a little luck, the plug might have been cross-threaded and you may be ok. Tom in RI :notworthy:

rickv1957 72 #4 Posted December 1, 2009 My wheelhorse dealer always told me that it was good for the axle seals to seep a little,so to keep hubs from rusting on,Rick
