Just let it come off in the tank if it will. The solution shouldn't hurt it.

Save Old Iron

Indy,

as long as you do not have any aluminum or chrome plated parts on that assembly

and you using a standard washing soda electrolyte ( no lye, etc)

you should be OK

also, make sure any pieces bolted together have good electrical contact or one piece will derust and the other one without the electrical contact will not process out as you would expect

It's early & the brains still sleeping in so thats my get out of jail card if I'm giveing you incorect info. :notworthy:

I'd copy the model/serial number down before soaking it & you will probably lose it when the paint under it lifts away from the metal.

If I recall dunking one of my tractors with that style of tag....almost like adhsive backed foil...the tag was washed clear from the E process.

Hey Stephen I think your right it is a foil of some sort. This is my 1st restore and I'm wanting to keep the tag(if I can),and also 1st e-tank try out. Wish me luck!!

Indy,

maybe try heating the foil with a hair dryer, lift one edge will a dulled razor blade and then gently peel back the rest of the foil while applying heat from the dryer - its worth a try
