RJ-35s

I decided that I should start a thread on these tractors and RJ-35 owners could post a picture and tell a little about theirs.

It seems a lot of these tractors are popping up on redsquare.

Here is mine: Late 1956 RJ-35 with a Clinton Engine. Was a former pulling tractor and is now being put back to original. I will hopefully restore it this spring. The wheels are repainted and the hood is very straight. I have since added a recoil starter and belt guard. I would like to put an EC-35 electric start setup on it. Runs good.

Here's another view of my 35. 1956 model with a 1290 Clinton electric start. Ive got everything but a belt guard and gas cap, Ive even got the original kill switch and it works. Full resto will be completed sometime in 2010, hopefully. :notworthy:

Charlie, I'm going to contact you some time this week for some Clinton parts if you don't mind. Thanks Vince

So we have 3 late 1956 RJs and Bell's looks to be a 1957 due to the white wheels

I'm thinking that the wheels have been changed... but I'm not sure. they look more yellow than white. Also, it has the "sheet metal" frame... (not the structural C-channel)... But, I'm still learning about these beasts...

Here's a few pics of my 1955 RJ35's. One is mostly original and in good condition with the original mower deck.100_6771.jpg100_6773.jpg100_9069.jpgThe other one is an early 1955 with the pedestal mounted gas tank. I have a mint condition hood for it and a 4 hp. Kohler. Will take alot to get it going! :woohoo: The 1957 RJ35 with the snow blade belongs to a friend of mine. Hammerhead :D

This not the best picture of my 1957 RJ-35 but this picture was taken at a open house of a Wheel Horse dealer to show off the new XI series in Mechanicsville Virginia. This tractor was purchased out of Ohio running for $400 bucks and recived a total restoration. Every thing is original except the rear wheel rims (calcium clhoride), even the all the inner tubes are from 1957! :woohoo:

I found this tractor in NH. The guy purchased it in Maine at a farm for 30$ with intention of selling. Anyways I purchased it. Restored it ...

Notice with the side-by-side comparison that some are longer then others. Whats the reason Horsers ??

If someone we know on here gets his in this thread there won't be enough bandwidth !!

Is there such a thing as a 1954 RJ?

or only 1955's?

I read somewhere that the Pond's made 100 RJ's in 1954, then "real" production began for 1955..So what is the oldest RJ out there?

Brian,

I think I see the front rims are silver? If that is original which it looks to be it is a 55. That is a nice survivor !!

Ive been thinking about selling my 4 RJ-58s and all the attachments and parts I have. I have 4 tractors-2 have Kohler K91T , 1 has the Clinton and one has no engine. Only 1 is missing the serial number decal. Kohlers run. Clinton needs a carb. I have original exhaust shields AND belt guards for 3 of them. 3 mower decks, 2 plows, cart, 2 spare transmissions, parts breakdowns, original manuals and sale tags, seats, tires.  Not sure if I should sell it as 1 big collection or break it up. And also a good starting price?  I'll post pics when I get a chance. Thanks

i do not know how to route this throttle cable on this RJ 59, i will attach some pictures, i watched packrats video on adjusting the govner on his 401, it did not look the same. also i think that and is way to long so that might be part of it. ( and also the color on that block looks beautifull) there is come pics, the more the better!

The RJ58 was the big hit for spectators this year at my local festivals here in Carroll County OH.
the children loved getting their pictures sitting on it, then they discovered the bicycle horn under the steering wheel. It’s always a joy even in parades. Just love showing off part of my collection every year and hearing all the stories from those that had WH in their lives at one time. Can hardly wait to get to retirement so I can get some of my other models back to their glory in working order and be able to attend other shows/festivals throughout the year. My fellow tractor enthusiasts always know when a spectacular starts asking about WH, they point in my direction. I study up on the history of the different models and always intrigue those that didn’t know much about how WH came to be. This website is one place that has helped me learn so much about the WH history and I thank you for sharing your knowledge that I am able to pass on to keep WH alive and well.
