kick 59 #1 Posted November 5, 2009 anybody change one on a d series. I seen the thread on the other horse but the d uses a conventional lip seal that is at least 3/8 wide. It looks like it can be removed from the outside but if its corroded it may have to be knocked out from the inside. there isn't much room between the shaft and metal edge of the seal to get anything in between to pull it out. any ideas appreciated. benc160 0 #2 Posted November 5, 2009 I usually start by drilling 2 - 1/8" diameter holes across from each other in the metal face of the seal. Then I try to use two picks (one in each hole) to pull straight out on the seal. If you are really lucky it will come out. If not I use a screwdriver or punch in one hole then try to pry the seal out with the punch or screw driver against a shim or something semi soft on the transaxle surface. One of the two usually work for me, just make sure if any drill shavings fell into the inside to clean them out. Good luck! -Ben
