aftermarket deck bearings

Recommended Posts

I'm working on a 1976 model 65-42mso1 42" mower deck. This is one of the models with no grease fittings on the spindle shafts.

Does anyone have and aftermarket source for part numbers "100289" and "101411" bearings that this deck takes. The ones from toro are expensive and I was looking for a cheaper source.

Thanks for any ideas!

Don't have an answer for you, only a question. Did you go through the

original bearings such that you need to replace them? I ask because I have

a deck like yours and wonder if I'm facing a bearing problem down the road.

I'm interested in the answer too.

Al, I've read on here that Wheel Horse used Timken bearings in a lot if not most of their applications. When I did a tranny rebuild lately, thanks to the good work of one of our members here who posted a cross reference chart I was able to get the bearings I needed fron Motion Industries for a fraction of the cost of the Toro paqrt numbers.

If your bearings aren't too chewed up and you can get a look at lip of the outer bearing race, there may be some numbers stamped into the metal (probably will need a magnifying glass if your eyes are anything like mine!). If there are and you go to the Motion Industries site you can enter the numbers in the Timken area and may come up with the bearings you need.

Others with more experience may have something to add here?

I searched high and low when I was trying to replace mine out of a 48" deck last year. I did not want to pay what Toro wanted for the bearings. Try Napa if all else fails. They might be able to cross reference those for you. I got mine for a 48" deck for about $6 a bearing last year there. I was unable to find a non chinese replacement bearing for mine :scratchead::hide: . My local bearing supply place was unable to get anything that fit that was not chinese. Guy there told me that most likely the new Toro bearings are coming from China now also, unless you get ahold of some old stock. I am suspect of the quality of the Chinese bearings, but so far so good. I figure I can replace the bearings almost three times for what the Toro bearings would have cost. What swayed me, was there was no guarantee that I was'nt paying for Chinese ones through Toro, and I would not be able to tell until I ordered them and had them in hand. Mine were #'s 106084 and 106085. Good luck.

Wow, I am new to the site, grew up riding a WH C-120, and still have and use dad's tractor as my main mower today. after nearly 50 years, I believe I am replacing the original mower deck bearings? I ordered a deck rebuild kit, blades, wheels, rollers, and for some reason, 6 of the larger upper spindle bearings and none of the smaller lower spindle bearings? I know I am late to the game here, but hope this will still help someone.

My lower bearings are Torrington JT-1211 bearings, and I ordered them on-line from Iron Wing Sales for $3.23 ea. They did get me a bit on shipping, but still a great price compared to ordering from Toro, Jack's, or anywhere else!

My guess is that you got a kit for a later model 80's deck with 3/4" greasable spindles,. I have some of those 75 series double D spindles but I have never had them apart.

Is this what you are looking for? I replaced the ones on my 36" RD deck recently, got them from Maverick Mower Supply..... $27.55 each....  If these are not the ones your deck needs, maybe Maverick has yours?

Looking at my old ones, I didn't think I'd even try to rebuild them.

(On edit.... disregard..... mine are totally different....)
