MikesRJ 555 #1 Posted October 3, 2009 I have a '67 1277 completely original and spec (and in reasonably good condition for its age), but the ID tag reads T-1277. I am sure the tag says "T" and not "1". Is this a normal ID tag designation number, or do I have something special on my hands?
sorekiwi 761 #2 Posted October 3, 2009 The tag on my 1276 reads T-1276 Mike
Sarge 3,464 #3 Posted October 3, 2009 Yep, the T is correct . If that 1277 is looking for a home it can join the pair I have here... Sarge

MikesRJ 555 #5 Posted October 4, 2009 So I take it the "T" is normal and not anything special other than being a '67 and a 1277?

MikesRJ 555 #9 Posted October 4, 2009 I was going to look at one yesterday but the owner said some was coming to get it on sunday. That was in northern Illinois. is this the same one? never mind I see your in PA Tractor is located in PA. I will get pictures up as soon as I can. The only problems with it is a few extra holes (drilled, not rusted) in the hood and the top surface of the dash surrounding sheet metal (almost like a PO had switches installed). The holes in the hood are to the right of the ornament, and may have held a headlight? At any rate I'll post pictures as soon as I can. Sarge has first dibs if he's really interested and the price is right.
oldandred 15 #10 Posted October 4, 2009 yeper the T is normal Ive got about ten with the T on them dont know why but will try to find out you do have some special as all wheel horses are special
Sarge 3,464 #11 Posted October 5, 2009 The 1277 is quite unique and shares a few very specific parts with it's brother the 1077. Just try to find a correct drive belt guard, they are very hard to find as well as that 7-slot hood. Not sure if it's just because the 1277 was my first, but is very well my personal favorite . Just something about that long narrow hood, position of the footrests and such that make it such a joy to operate. Even my 10 month old grandaughter prefers the pair of 1277's to ride on compared to the '74 C-160. Sarge

Sarge 3,464 #14 Posted October 6, 2009 I'd be interested if the price were right, biggest obstacle is getting it across 4 states! Have you checked the engine's date codes and id'd the trans yet ? Sarge
jachady 130 #15 Posted November 4, 2009 Sarge, Sounds like you know quite a bit about the 1277, so I got a question for you. I just picked one up, the tag reads T-1277 so I know thats what it is, but it doesn't have the same hood decals as these past pictures. The decal just says Wheel Horse and has red and black stripes. Does this sound original? I'll try to get pics (because I know you'll ask).
Sarge 3,464 #16 Posted November 5, 2009 Sounds like someone used a hood from a Charger/Raider. 1277's will have 7 slots in the hood and no headlight indent or cutout. Sarge

CasualObserver 3,410 #18 Posted November 5, 2009 That's interesting... you've actually got a few different parts there... 1277s shouldn't have foot boards, they should have the #4421 stirrup style foot pegs, and your hood side decal is from a 70-72 year. Probably was just replaced with something that the dealer had in stock when the original wore off or was damaged. The front decal looks right for the 1277 though, so it's probably the original hood. Can I ask where you're from? That Dixon decal has me wondering. Sarge is from Ohio... about 20 miles south of Dixon. Another forum member, stevinator, is from Dixon, so is jeepman, now that I think of it.
jachady 130 #19 Posted November 5, 2009 I'm from Fort Atkinson, WI. I got the tractor from central Illinois.
Sarge 3,464 #20 Posted November 6, 2009 You could check the serial id on the engine to check if it's correct. I'd say she's had some damage and swapped parts over the years, maybe from a C-series or later Charger/Raider. Kilmer's is a pretty old place in Dixon, hasn't been there in quite awhile as far as I know. Crying shame it's missing the belt guard for the hydro, that's a 2-model/1-year part and very hard to find. What does the rear of the fender pan look like? Sarge
jachady 130 #21 Posted November 7, 2009 The rear of the fender pan is a little crinkled on one side from someone moving the tractor with the pan up. I'll admit I might have made it worse until I knew what I was doing, but theres rust there so I wasn't the first one.
