Stress Test Pullin 0 #1 Posted September 27, 2009 :scratchead: ok i have a 12hp kohler enigne off a '69 raider 12 which is being converted to a puller but the 12hp was a strong runner (but i like twins) except for this one thing, its set up as a solid state ignition, and its the only one ive seen like this, and the pick up electro magnet seems to be bad(burnt smell and all) and the new price is like $150.00, thats insane!!! would it be worth swapping the engine back to points or dipping into the pockets deep and getting the new magnet :ychain:
TT-(Moderator) 1,131 #2 Posted September 27, 2009 Convert it to points. (providing the block is drilled for them) You have no control over timing adjustment if you use the breakerless set-up.
Stress Test Pullin 0 #3 Posted September 27, 2009 yes its drilled for them but who ever owned it before me cut a peice of round stock and closed the hole up so i got to get that out to :scratchead:
WheelHorse_of_course 99 #4 Posted September 27, 2009 I am confused . How do you know it is a strong runner if it has no spark? If it does have a spark then use it as is. If you can pick up in Cleveland OH we should be able to make a deal on a K301 (broken rod) with both the coil and trigger. Best of luck :hide:
Stress Test Pullin 0 #5 Posted September 28, 2009 it used to run quite well actually, but some where along the line i fried the electromagnet :scratchead:
