Question about 12HP Kohler Vs. 16HP Kohler

Is the Kohler K series 16HP engine basically the same engine as my K series 12HP engine, but with a larger bore? Is the stroke any different? How about carb jetting or size? I was wondering if you could just bore out a K series 12HP to 16HP bore dia. and use a 16HP piston, and Viola! A K series 16HP is born???

Long story short - the answer is no.

It is possible to build a 30cid (K-301) engine that produces over 16 horsepower though.

Thanks for the info. If ever you have time and feel like typing, I'd LOVE to hear the whole story......What are the diferences between the two stock engines, and what can you do to get over 16HP out of a 12HP K301? Thanks again.
