Okay, I finally got the throttle linkage figured out, and the engine all put back together. Here is a before and after comparison. I can't get over how my camera makes IH red look orange. Now it's time to attack some sheet metal.

I think it really needs the original Kohler decals on it to "set it off" . Anyone know of a source to get these decals? :scratchead:

Thanks. How does one get in touch with Terry the decal guy?

Maybe you guys can answer this question for me: Which way does the input pulley go onto the 8-speed tranny? It has a cast iron pulley, with a cooling fan cast right into the center of it. One side has a very slightly longer hub than the other. Also one side has some numbers cast into the outer rim. Can anyone help me identify which side faces out? Long hub in, or long hub out??? :scratchead: Thanks, Jon

We finally settled on a set of Deestone AG tires for the front. My three helpers and I got the engine bolted back on also. Here's a couple pics...... More to come......

That thing is coming out SWEEET. Very nice work!

The pulley with the fan built in it is for a hydro tranny to cool the pump. I think it is a smaller diameter pulley than the one that is original to the tractor but I'm not 100% sure. Maybe the PO was going for more speed. Maybe someone with more experience can chime in about the pulley.

Wallfish is right. I didn't catch your original post about the pulley, just read about which way it should go on. The 8-Speed pulley is bigger and no fan, actually has angled spokes in the pulley. At least that is how mine are....

Thanks for the encouraging words guys. I looked on Partstree.com, and the transmission pulley they show looks just like my pulley. Here is a photo of my pulley (got the photo off ebay, but it is identical to my pulley). I think from my discription in an earlier post in this thread, I might have made it sound like the hydro pulley when I said, "has a cooling fan cast right into the center of it". I was attemping to discribe the pulley in this photo. I was refering to the angled spokes as a cooling fan, because they are designed to move air. Let me know wether or not you guys think this is the correct pulley for my 8-speed. Thanks again.

It's the correct pulley - it's just the early version before they made them out of stamped steel. :notworthy:
