Sleeve hitch lift height

Recommended Posts

Hello all,

Sometime last year I installed a sleeve hitch on my 312-8, I didn't purchase the actual clevis (made my own, hindsight being 50/50 should have just ponied up the cash but regardless).

Plowed my garden plot last fall and all went well, with the warm weather I went out and disked it over and lo and behold my disk has maybe 1" of ground clearance on flat level driveway.

Begs the question, how much ground clearance do YOUR attachments have?

I'm trying to narrow down if it's in my adjustments or if this specific disk is sitting too low

With the moldboard on I don't have miles of clearance but it's enough to drive out to the garden without plowing up a new driveway

I use My 416H just for cultivating with a Brinly sleeve Hitch cutivator In the Garden and I have to be careful going over the Yard even with the clevis Hitch(sleeve hitch) raised to the maximum allowable Height. Eventually I may adapt a Johnny Products Universal Electric Lift Sleeve Hitch to My 416H as this MTF Member did to his Raider 12 https://www.mytractorforum.com/threads/1968-raider-12-factory-clevis-sleeve-hitch-or-electric-sleeve-hitch.1365764/ . I have always found Wheel Horse to have the shortest Lift Height for their OEM sleeve Hitch (Clevis Hitch as WH calls it) of just about any tractor Manufacturer that is or was on the market.

Glad it's not just me lol

May go ahead and see if I can rework the lift (read linear actuator/winch) since there is more room to rotate on the clevis just a lack of stroke

Now that Hitch shown, I have On another Tractor. Which is a JD GX335, I use. It's In down pressure Mode Normally. But with a different Pin Placement it can also float Implements . That is the Only Issue with a winch, all Implements are float only, which is not great for a rear Blade or rear Rake.

I'm a bit crazy as I Have 16 Garden tractors and 1 compact tractor.

6 Garden tractors with either Cat 0 or Limited Cat 1 3-point Hitches and a Compact Tractor with a Limited Cat 1 3-point as well.

10 with Sleeve Hitches:handgestures-thumbupright:

Yeah no down pressure has been something to deal with so far but compromises have to be made somewhere

My attachments ride low on my 414-8. I drilled extra holes for the adjustment on the hitch where the chain connects by pin. These extra holes allow for better adjustmnet and the extra 3/4 inch helps to keep the implements elevated. There was a thread here that discussed this. Do a search and you should find some good responses.

I've also drilled extra holes. The changes seem pretty minimal with the disc, I'm sure with a different implement I'd see more improvement.

Considering moving the lift flag further forward to take up some more of the slack out of the cable
