FLtractor 23 #1 Posted Friday at 12:56 AM (edited) Are deck wheels universal as long as same size? As in I could replace my busted wheels eventually with any brand? Edited Friday at 12:56 AM by FLtractor
ri702bill 8,937 #2 Posted Friday at 09:23 AM OE Toro wheels are still avaivable - either thru Toro or some Fleabay sellers. But, OE is not cheap....

Right so if I wanted to save money go with an off brand… are there deck wheels out there that would work if I just found out what size dimensions I need? 1
ri702bill 8,937 #4 Posted Friday at 12:48 PM Lawnmower wheels may have a different axle length, even they are the proper diameter....
rjg854 11,871 #5 Posted Friday at 01:25 PM What type of deck are you talking about? Early 60's rotary deck or the later models?
953 nut 57,740 #6 Posted Friday at 01:33 PM Most of the time the deck wheel wear out the shoulder bolts as fast as the wheels, buy them as a set so everything fits right, most are 3/8 - 16 thread.

Mounting the gage wheels differed on the different deck models over the years but the wheels stayed the same. When replacing, match the overall diameter, the bore (the diameter of the hole for the axle bolt), the length of the bore through the wheel, and any offset (where the end of the bore is closer or further from the centerline of the wheel. Look for wear on the axle bolts and replace if necessary. You might be tempted to use plastic-hub wheels thinking their load rating is adequate. My advice is to stick to steel-hub since there is a lot of side load on the wheels when making turns. Usually there are a couple of vendors at the Big Show selling deck wheels. pfrederi 18,314 #10 Posted Saturday at 01:03 PM Let me a bit contrary here. I have used some cheap Arnold (big box store) Plastic wheel on some decks. Haven't broken one yet...I am sure they will wear out sooner than OEM...BUT I can replace them 3 times for the price of a Toro Wheel....
