ri702bill 8,938 #2 Posted April 9 To grease just what? Rotating, fast or slow speed, waterproof, water resistant, high temp..... all come into play. Lucas Xtra HD generally works well... @peter lena should agree...
peter lena 9,074 #3 Posted April 9 @ri702bill thanks for the shout ! once you start using this in any rotational , bearing the difference is dramatic ,often ask how easily does your pto / mule drive belt , MOVE BY HAND TO YOUR MOWER DECK ? have often heard WHAT WOULD YOU DO THAT FOR ? REALLY ? if the belt barely moves the mule / deck spindles / or its rough in any way , you have lubrication failure . do your drive belts get hot ? clutch engagement , rough / squealing ? have my 3 set up the same way , once found , its the detailing ,and lube assurance , that makes the pto lever starting point , to heim joint end of thrust rod , amazingly easy smooth , and no struggling ,attempt , to actually spin up , many local neighbors , have the screaming decks , and choke and throttle cables that sound like a hack saw blade on a rod , don't even bother , just drive by on a road test , think you know , pete

squonk 42,447 #5 Posted April 9 (edited) I would think 00 grease like Ariens specs for their snowblower gear drives. But I'm not an x-spurt on that. My brother inherited my Grandfather's old Wizard tiller from the early 60's. It had some kind of funky liquid grease in it. Regular 90 W grease ran right out of it.
