John c 81 #1 Posted 17 hours ago the ignition switch has been struggling to engage the solenoid for a few months now, figured it was time for a new one, inspection shows signs of excess heat at the battery lead, which was probably due to poor connection due to corrosion/rust over it's lifetime. It kinda fell apart once I started handling it, can one of y'all tell me which way the crimp on connector is supposed to come out of the connector body ? thanks
lynnmor 7,539 #2 Posted 17 hours ago (edited) Take it to a NAPA store. You should be able to slide a thin blade down alongside the terminal to release it. Edited 17 hours ago by lynnmor

There is a tab on the connector that needs to be pushed in, then the terminal will come out of the back of the plug. A pic of the connector to help you out and one source for new connectors. https://www.amazon.com/Baomain-Female-Terminals-connector-insulated/dp/B01MFEDLM4/ref=sr_1_3?crid=3MJAEWPQ0MGNC&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.vQA9w-KcNJ6D7be3mW3pJ8Qcl9sYWNmhfgyG8JesP_UDkUN2MSqWksrooucFCMcygEJmr9oHFF4bFpKfRFMBNhJritunLrg_PziXCECZuARtvvqIO1y-enthHMjPZsw2g2fQShCx3XtdtUifenL6-s9K0cW4rg0fndsRFO1PttItxQgxY4MrE8_T1xc6SIuFHRClHGbtlo-9q_osbX338hs5vPDSewOHQjOf6DMiBGc.qhUO-HPNtSp8Ny-_un-aRGU52G7q7-URDf2x49ksR2o&dib_tag=se&keywords=female+spade+connectors+for+plugs&qid=1743790743&sprefix=female+spade+connectors+for+plugs%2Caps%2C109&sr=8-3 Edited 15 hours ago by Achto

Another option... https://a.co/d/5EbkNl3 Edited 11 hours ago by WHX??
953 nut 57,476 #5 Posted 9 hours ago This video will show you how to remove and replace the Packard 56 terminals. You can buy them at NAPA or any other GOOD auto parts store.
John c 81 #6 Posted 8 hours ago Once I got it cleaned up and blown out, I saw I was fighting with nearly melted plastic too, I was able to finally get it freed up. I've got a stens branded switch coming in Sunday. I'll see if I can source new lock inn crimps locally, if not I'll make do with the basic style I have on hand.
