Poor :wh: filly!  With that past and current pedigree of owner/caretaker's its probable thinking the glue factory route doesn't look that bad :scared-eek:

Then again it looks about like the abused quality of tractor we find down here in Texas.

Wow, not sure where to go with that. I’ll at least give you credit for grease UNDER the fingernails verses polish on top!

Man, I’m out of touch. I’ve never heard of a Chevy 573 or 632

I have actually been excited about this project’s outcome for quite some time.  Happy to see the SMF,GMDNSHN3 gets to tour around Michigan a bit!

Haven't had the chance... Need to verify trans first, then on to power.

How about a Wisconson V4?  Maybe a Mazda Wankel?

Too bad you're so far away.

I have a 50s vintage Kohler flat twin cylinder I'd donate for the cause...

It's a monstrous engine though.

Thanks!!! Maybe @Pullstart can pick it up on the way to the Big Show... only like 1000 miles off route... he can swing by after he's done in North Dakota and Arizona...  :auto-layrubber:

Little progress tonight.

Verified transmission goes into all 4 gears and is pretty darn quiet. Have not drained / flushed yet. Work / family stuff limiting my priorities... :angry-tappingfoot:

From what I could see through the shifter hole the gears look pretty good.

I am keeping good to my promise not to disturb the ruggedly handsome good looks of this :wh:... nothing cleaned or primped...

Regarding power: I am not going electric. Decision now is gas or diesel and diesel sounds (pun intended) like a better plan in keeping with the overall look and feel I'm aiming for... more to come on that...

The auto linkage will be interesting to address with the 3 speed manual... I'm either going to use it as a hand clutch or swap out with what's on the Suburban yard art... input welcome. Pic of yard art last...

All for now!

I do believe that clutch setup should work.  Maybe a little creative work to get the throw correct, but they are very similar in design to the later model3 speeds.  :handgestures-thumbupright:

I have seen a few built with a safety clutch using the implement lift lever to actuate the clutch and spring loaded to disengage when released.    :scratchead:       Those grandkids are getting older so you need to build this so they can learn to drive.

Not sure this one will be kid friendly yet... I have C series floor boards from Kevin's magic shed, but they look pretty funky with the round fenders... if I can't totally isolate little feet and hands from the rear tires and belt they won't be driving this one...

Drained trans... not much oil and no water... and no metal shavings!!!

Flushed once... letting it drain overnight. Then will refill with oil...

Whats the capacity on this thing? Just go till it comes out fill plug? If so, that's about 1 quart based on flush.

I either jack up the left side a bit to stuff 2 quarts in, or fill it through the shifter hole.  I like more oil than less (generally speaking, however I never ran this transmission).
