ET160 30 #1 Posted March 26 The drive belt on my B-80 slaps a bit against the guard. Is there a way to mitigate it? I'm pretty sure the belt itself is okay.

ET160 30 #3 Posted March 26 When it's stationary and running; foot off the clutch.

The belt may look okay but it's possible the sides are worn off and it's sitting down in the groove. That would effectively lengthen the belt. Also very possible that spring is worn out, and/or the idler pulley. The spring is a Toro part number 108035. The belt I believe is a Toro or Wheel Horse part number 7374. I'm not sure on the idler. If you are sure the belt is good, get that spring and the idler pulley and replace both.
ET160 30 #5 Posted March 26 Thanks! I'll take a look. I may have replaced the pulley a few years back, but perhaps not the spring.

When giving the belt a look, be sure to check for any spot on the sidewall that is worn deeper than the adjacent areas. This can easily cause the belt to be jumping between deeper and shallower on the pulley sheave and that’ll appear like bouncing. Good hunting!
