Question about high low shift lever

Recommended Posts

midpack

So, I found an 8 speed to swap into my 312-8. I'm going to assess the internal damage at a later date but I'm moving very soon and don't have time to investigate and repair right now.

My question has to do with swapping rears and the high/low shift lever. The way it snakes through the frame and parking brake shaft looks close, and I would have to twist the rear to get it through.

There's a roll pin holding the lever on, is that the trick? Drive the pin out and remove the lever?

Any better way?

Thanks

Jack

Yeah, that!  It’s not difficult. Use a roll pin punches

:text-yeahthat:  easy peasy.         Install two alignment studs in the new tranny to make for an easy installation.

That high/low shift lever was no easy off either. It was rusted on and I didn't want to use force to remove it. Lots of patience and rocking it back and forth with pressure underneath got it. Threw a little Never Seize on it when I put back together. Someone will appreciate that someday I hope
