953 tires

Recommended Posts

What size ag tires would fit my 953? Cross reference seems to be 195/80/15. Some of the tires I see listed are for example 15 x 6.00-6. How does that translate to the size I need? What do each of the 15 x 6.00-6 numbers mean?

Do they have to be AG style? I have these ATV tires on my 953 and really like them.

I use these old 15" Truck snow tires with chains in the winter.

Can you post a link?

That size > to me <  means 15" OUTER diameter.

BKT seems to be making a good product from what I've read.

I have some I haven't used yet.

I personally use and recommend Simple tire.

You'll find a 7.5L - 15 that measures just under 30" OD.

There's also 5 - 15 and some brands of 6 - 15 that measure one side or the other of 26"  OD.

15 X 600 X 6  As EB said that size tire is 15" outer diameter 6" wide and for a 6" rim.     750 x 15 would be 7 1/2" wide and a 15" rim.

They are not price friendly at all, but these are the tires that I put on my 953.

Another option, slightly wider and a bit taller.

Not really, the tires on it now are bald snow tires that look like the snow tires on older cars in the 60's and 70's. When I use my sickle mower on these Tennessee hills I tend to lose traction a lot. I just want something that will grip in the mud and dirt. I'm even thinking of a six or 8 speed with low range :eusa-think:

So the last number 6 is the rim diameter and the middle number is the width and the first number is the overall total outside diameter of the tire itself correct?

Then 195/75/15 would translate to 26.52 x 7.68 x 15 or somewhere in the ballpark.

Is this the 953 you got from me Chuck?   I thought that one had 14" wheels.

Yes it is Ed, I assumed all 953s had 15 inch tires. I just checked and the rim measures 15 1/2 at the widest point. I checked a 15 inch trailer rim I have and it measures 16.25 at the widest point. I guess I stand corrected  @953 nut thoughts? Did the 953 actually come with 14 inch rear tires? :eusa-think: I have a few GT-14s and they have 4 lug 15 inch wheels. Can I swap a pair of those to my 953?

I think they all came with 15" wheels.      If you recall that tractor was missing one rear when I bought it.     Charlie Culley sold me the pair that is on there now.    I discovered they were 14" wheels.

They will fit well and allow you to run a wider tire as well.
