8 speed to hydro, how hard?

Recommended Posts

Thinking about options for the 312-8 with the bound transmission, I do have a hydro off a 312 Classic, similar era. The 312-8 is early with a K 301, the hydro was a M12. It's still connected to the lift piston and lever.

Is it doable?

Perhaps download the Parts List for both and look for similarities and differences on Part Numbers for each as a start???

I've been look at doing something like this on a C series.  The easiest way is to move the complete hoodstand which has all the linkages in it.  you could leave the upper dash which has the steering shaft through it and just bolt that dash back onto the traded hoodstand.

There are alot of linkages and pedals and such you'll need from the donor machine, but on the tractor itself the frames and sheet metal are the same for both setups. You won't have to modify anything. You'll just have alot of small parts to swap with it.

A#1. I'm NO authority on the 300 400 500 series.

I believe one of the advantages of manufacturing with the 1980 something and up is the sheet metal being usable for both manual and hydro.

As you know, on our older B and C Series the entire transmission tunnel / lower steering tower needs to be swapped for a conversion either way.
