midpack 942 #1 Posted Monday at 10:57 AM I have a 312-8 Classic with a locked transmission. My daughter's boyfriend was getting on it yesterday and accidentally hit one of the shift levers with his foot. Nothing moves and the drive belt just burns on the pulley. Wheels don't turn, shifters don't move... What kind of damage do you think might have happened?
ebinmaine 70,003 #2 Posted Monday at 11:16 AM Sounds like it's locked between gears. See if you can get the shifter set screw out.

Pullstart 63,837 #5 Posted Monday at 11:59 AM Keep us posted. I’ve never heard on this happening to anything but a 3 speed. Hopefully it’s not broken between hi and low.

Hope fully did not happen to yours. Don't be too hard on the boy i caught my foot on levers many times. Yes pull the shifter and have a look see. midpack 942 #7 Posted Monday at 04:34 PM I got the shifter out and can see the forks are out of line. Tried to get them to move, rock the wheels, try to move the drive pulley. Nothing. Looks like I'll have to take it apart to see what's bound up. The guy (young man) who kicked the lever is a great person. Treats my daughter very well, I know he likes lawn stuff so I figured I'd let him give it a go. I'm not going to say anything about it, I like him 1
stevasaurus 22,995 #8 Posted Monday at 05:10 PM This may be of use...it;s the same as your trans except this is 1 1/8" axles with an 8 pinion differential. Yours should be 1" axles and a 4 pinion differential.

c-series don 9,314 #12 Posted Monday at 11:37 PM Not sure if it will help but did you try to rock the tractor back and forth while putting a little pressure on the shifters? Or are the wheels locked solid?
adsm08 2,468 #13 Posted Monday at 11:49 PM I'd jack the back end up to take all the tension off everything and try to get it back in line before going too in depth. I've seen many a 4x4 system "stuck" engaged and it was just tension from drive-line windup holding everything together.

Knowing the insides of these trannys like I do It the shifter would have to be wacked pretty hard to do any serious damage and even then. Weakest link is the fingers on the shifter forks tho.
