stvski80085 126 #28 Posted March 12 (edited) Red to frame. Black to key. I wonder if the Derrick from vice grip garage had this. Edited March 12 by stvski80085

stvski80085 126 #31 Posted March 12 I am planning on it. It wasn’t a length of cable issue so I don’t know. I will fix before I fire it up this weekend. Well, try too.

The original cables are all black. All 3. The red is a replacement by a PO. Why someone would even consider using red for ground...... Must have been what was to hand. stvski80085 126 #33 Posted March 12 (edited) Are the pto’s the same size between the k181 and 10 horse Tecumseh? It has no lever for pto so I need to look at it closer. I would on use this for pulling but if motor works on b-80 too it would be good to know. Still looking for the manual on this one. Be sure to fill it with fuel or coat the inside with some lightweight oil after you empty it and rinse it. If you have some diesel, it works for a good light weight coating. No need to fill it, just slosh it around to cover the inside and dump the rest of it out. Then its ready to install.

I don't have anything that uses diesel so Marvel may be they way for now. I need to sand down the outside of the tank and give it a little paint or flood to stop the rust on the outside of the tank.
stvski80085 126 #37 Posted March 13 (edited) Well, Looks like the engine is locked solid. Tested starter and it's good. It will only move about a 1/8 inch and won't budge. I have soaked the piston with kroil for a week. Gonna dig a little deeper but I may just end up swapping another motor on it. Maybe find another Kohler eventually or just throw a predator on it and be done with it for now. I just need it to pull some small things around. Gonna pop head off and take a peak tonight. Does anyone know if the Tecumseh PTO shaft is same size as Kohler? Edited March 13 by stvski80085

I think I could measure that for you tonight but I want to say the Tecumseh PTO is the same size as the small block Kohler so if you could find an 8 HP it would be a little easier swap. You'd have to do a little bit of rewiring depending on what engine you found. Another option might be to get a hold of somebody like Lincoln at A to Z Tractor in PA and see about getting something more complete.
