Moparfanforever 874 #1 Posted March 4 I have a few tools that I have had for years and I know nothing about how to use them so it is time to sell. Anyone know what these would be worth?? Thanks!!
Moparfanforever 874 #3 Posted March 4 The fuzzy lining has come apart in this.
ri702bill 8,953 #4 Posted March 4 (edited) They all seem to be in nice condition, considering that they are "Old School" style. That may, IMHO, have a negative impact on the prices. Dial indicators and micrometers now are digital - better for Old Eyes. Central Tool is in the next town over from me..... The ones that have model numbers - look on their Manufacturer Sites to get pricing and reviews. At least the Micrometers are simple to read - OLD time Vernier Calipers are akin to using a Slide Rule ... Edited March 4 by ri702bill 1
Ed Kennell 40,454 #5 Posted March 4 Go to E bay or Facebook Marketplace and search Starrett mics and Central Tool mics to get a feel for what they are selling for. Keep in mind, these are still for sale and many list a price or best offer.

I have been using Google Lens and the Central Tools in the blue case is for a small engine or two cycle engine.

All of the tools are perfectly usable and not out of date. The timing indicator is a simple one inch dial indicator with spark plug hole adapters, few people know how to use them but the various other parts in the kit makes is usable for indicating more that just timing. Carefully clean up the inside micrometer in the fuzzy case and display the components properly on new foam or felt. That is a precision instrument so treat it with care.
Moparfanforever 874 #8 Posted March 4 I think I will clean the fuzzy parts with air pressure, don't want to use something that will harm them. Just looking to get some kind of a fair price on them so someone can put them to use.

Take it apart and clean with a solvent like brake cleaner, then lightly oil with something like a good gun oil. Prices will vary considerably, as suggested, check the auction site and also new prices, then take your best guess. A .200 - 1.200 inside micrometer can be had for $50 to over $500 depending on brand is one example. I would buy some of these tools but at my age I wouldn't get much use out of them so I can't offer a fair price.

Yup when I read a mic, it's time to get a magnifying glass out.

Had these new clear lens' put in and now these 81yo eyeballs can even read the old vernier caliper.
