John A 22 #1 Posted February 26 My 2005, GT Classic Garden Tractor Model 73450 needs a cover or a new seat. The factory installed vinyl seat cover has split in several areas but the foam padding has remained in good conditions at this time. I am looking for some suggestions. The ragged seat spoils the looks of my fine Wheel Horse Tractor. Are there quality seat covers available or should I replace the seat and be good for another 15 years or so? Thanks John
PWL216 897 #2 Posted February 26 @John A I’ll be following the comments with interest. It seems nearly every tractor I acquire needs a new seat for one reason or another. And since I’ve never seen a seat cover that looks good to my eye - I buy new seats for my ‘good’ tractors and use gorilla tape on the others. If I had just one tractor, I would buy a new seat. I just put a new $80 low back seat on a 418-C. It’s ok. Wish I had bought one with a seat back height similar to those on my 314’s. Having said all that, I hope someone knows of good seat covers 1

Red Stallion 92 #5 Posted February 27 I'm in the process of fitting up a new seat I bought of The Bay. Its a bit bigger than stock, but then again, so am I. The bolting pattern didnt match up, so Ive made an adapter plate, which is why I'm still only in the process.
John A 22 #6 Posted February 27 Thanks for the comments. I see a lot listed on Amazon but details like mounting patterns are missing. A picture of the bottom with the bolt pattern would be a big help. Assuming there is some heavy gauge metal on the bottom. I am not looking for a major project to simply replace the current seat. Which is an easy task. There are seats available for John Deere models at reasonable prices with satisfied customers. The one I did find (TORO) listed for my model Wheel Horse was over $600 with taxes. Maybe Gorilla tape is the answer at this time. I have wasted many hours over the last few years looking for a reasonably priced replacement. John

I triple checked the bolting pattern they provided and it was within a whisker, so I figured I can make that work. Then it turns up with a completely different bolting pattern by several inches. Turned a 20min job into a whole weekend, because I lent out my welder to a mate across town.
76c12091520h 3,730 #10 Posted February 28 7" x 7.5" covers most of the early units thru the 90's. Somewhere along the way, 520's and many of later models featured different bolt patterns . 520's typically have a 7.5" x 8" bolt pattern while the other late models have a 8" x 5.75" pattern. 2

Red Stallion 92 #13 Posted Thursday at 06:18 AM Talk seats, has anyone managed to track down replacement coil springs? I can probably make do with what Ive got but it would be nice to replace them. I'm guessing their main job is to compress down and activate the seat switch? Could I swap it out for a slightly compressable eva/rubber block?
