stvski80085 98 #1 Posted February 23 (edited) So I bounced around the models and it list 7434 in picture below which is the tension bar I have. The pulley that is on it and works is a hair over 3 inches and the lip is not as deep. If I put the 7434 on it's maxed out but even worse is the lip rubs the belt and I think will tear it up. It just sounds bad to even spin by hand. The 7437 is about 3.75 inches. Number 4 is what i'm talking about. It is listed as 7434 in a few models but it's not what mine has. Any idea's? daveoman1966 3,772 #2 Posted February 23 This MAY be the idler pulley you need. It spins true with no drag or wobble. It is a whisker over 3" dia, 1" wide, and the bore is 3/8" with a 1/16" offset center. This SHOULD suit your needs. $10 + $5 to ship it... Paypal works for me.
peter lena 9,023 #3 Posted February 23 @stvski80085 done a number of mower decks , major issue is LUBRICATION FAILURE , proof ? note , INCREMENTAL BELT BOUNCE , that showing you related bearing hang up points . all my pulleys are RE GREASED , and any rotational point is improved . of course what I am telling you is not BY THE BOOK , also did over every related , drive belt spindle point , the moving / rotational difference , is rediculousely easy / smooth in use. also added a flat idler on back side of unsupported deck belt , smooth . quiet . have backed away from , replys , realise it upsets , purests , then again what can you do on a repeditive problem ? pete

Do you not have the part numbers mixed up? 7434 is the tension bar at the beginning and a pulley at the end. What model of deck is this for?
stvski80085 98 #5 Posted February 23 (edited) It was from 1978 but has the tensioner bar above but deck looks like the 75-something. I have it at home. The pulley mounted to tensioner is what I’m talking about. Looks like number 4 from pic above. 36 inch side discharge. I think it has parts from a change over mid year. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,195 #6 Posted February 23 Here are all the 36" side discharge models. Click on the fuzzy link to see some notes. Mid-year 1977 tension bar was added. gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,195 #7 Posted February 23 Look at the DNA again. I suspect it is a bad superseded number.
stvski80085 98 #8 Posted February 24 Daveoman above has the correct one. The 7434 would work but the deeper lip is rubbing the belt funny. I may try to file it first and see if I can get the belt to ride correctly. If not the one dave has above is the same size I have on mine. Dave, Does it feel like it has a bearing in it. Mine works but is noisy so I was wanting to replace it.
