Friction washers on hydro

Recommended Posts

Can I just flip them instead of replacing them? And why are they special?

Look like fender washers to me.

Friction washers are cupped and flatten out as the nut is tightened

Belleville spring washers are cone shaped to provide a constant spring load and friction to adjacent parts.

Fender washers are flat.

OK, Mine are flat. Probably replaced by the PO with fender washers. I'll order some real ones.

Thanks.

The friction washers are harder than common fender washers.  They are backed up with a Belleville washer to provide some adjustment range.  You can flip the friction washers or grind them flat again.

Thanks, @lynnmor

After looking at the parts diagram again, I see the spring washer is UNDER the cam plate which is why I didn't see it.

I'll flip the flats and check the Belleville washer to make sure it's good.
