I had a pepper can on a K-341 for a while and had to change it. That or wear earmuffs. This really doesn't seem any louder than the stock muffler. If I do end up putting a good muffler on it the original fitting is a 45 but the outlet end is the oversize issue. I can screw a street 45 in the block but I would have to pull stuff off the front of the engine to do that. Not happening until I know the problem is fixed for sure. I feel that the issue was the coil and will be able to go back to the original muffler.
squonk 42,331 #127 Posted March 10 (edited) I would have left the old muffler on. If it ran ok with the OE muffler during the test you'd know it was the coil. You changed 2 things that one of them probably fixed it. Now which one was the culprit? Edited March 10 by squonk

I've tried this, didn't work. Then that, didn't work. There's an outside chance it could have been the spark plug. Last fall it took all I had not to just give it away. Instead I just parked it still dirty in the barn knowing I would regain some hope this spring. It also let me ponder it over the winter and take in the great advice from everyone on this forum. I like where it's at now but if it fails the true test I'll be searching for my sanity.......and the tools to do the valves.
David Blanchard 14 #130 Posted March 11 Glad you got it fixed, Think you can probably put the stock muffler back on without problems. It's a joy to operate a good running machine. Congratulations. .
Racinbob 11,667 #131 Posted March 11 I had a slow leak from under the left side panel that I assumed was hydraulic. This morning, feeling pretty good about the initial test yesterday I decided to look for it. It didn't take long and I had to laugh at myself after all this tractor has put me through. The brass barb on the inlet side of the fuel pump wasn't even finger tight. It was hidden by the cover. I should fire the idiot that installed the pump.
