RED-Z06 2,430 #1 Posted February 8 Ive done the thrust washer mod, and lubed everything on my 416-H but im still unhappy with the steering effort with the blade on front. Im thinking about how to add counter weight in back, it has the sleeve hitch to pull the small brinly attachments.
ri702bill 8,825 #2 Posted February 9 Not a sleeve hitch, but a later "spanker" style hitch on my 854. Added a 50 pound weight on it, along with wheel weights and 150 pounds of lead ingots under the seat for traction when using my swing down scarifier on the 42" plow.... I’m sure the hitch can handle the weight, but wouldn’t the weight want to go up and down along with the blade?
Lee1977 6,960 #4 Posted February 9 (edited) Most of us add a receiver hitch to the rear bolted to the top of the axle and braced down to the WH hitch. Either bought or home made. I don't have a weight bracket for mine, but do have pulverize that adds weight. Guess about 80 #.. As you can see there are other mods going on here. winch for rear lift. raised fender seat bracket and gas tank. This receiver hitch is braced off the top of the transmission. The trick to using the sleeve hitch with the receiver hitch is it has to be modified also. Move the lift lever to the out side. The reason for the home made sleeve hitch I built the pulverizer hitch too short. The tractor is raised with 25" tires rear and 16" tires on 6" spindles. It would, im hoping the cylinder is up for it. It lifts the tiller without any hesitation and that sob is heavy. Theres just not alot of options in back because theres no frame, no rockshaft, just a transmission and the plow mounts currently occupy the axle tubes. The receiver hitch mounts on top of the axle housing using the same bolt as the plow mount. Edited February 9 by Lee1977

My drawbar and clevis/sleeve hitch use the pivot pin down on the bottom. This? https://wheelhorsepartsandmore.com/product/heavy-duty-removable-receiver-hitch-with-axle-mounting-hardware-if-you-do-not-have-a-104659-bracket/ Looks like you have to knock out the pin, remove the clevis hitch entirely to use this reciever because it interferes, really dont want to have to do all that, ill figure out a way to make it work, too bad wh didn't use power steering like so many others did at the time. sergeant 306 #9 Posted February 9 Well This works fine on a Wheel Horse Clevis Hitch called the 4X Multi Suitcase Pinned Weight Receiver from Johnny Products. https://johnnyproducts.com/ordermain.htm#SLVACC $125.00 + shipping. I am still a little Leary of it though because of the cable on the Clevis Hitch. But My Other Tractors with Sleeve Hitch with Mechanical Linkage or Actuator Linkage it works fine on

This is a great insight, thanks! The interference concern has so far prevented me from adding a receiver hitch. Now it’ll go on my list!

kpinnc 13,285 #16 Posted February 11 Given the simplicity of the front hitch (just a 5/8 steel rod locks in nicely) and the flat bar needed for the weights- a front hitch setup is one of the easier things to fabricate. This is mine. I wish the weights were still available. I'd buy about 10 more for use on the back.

I am one of them Kevins, and I can't remember what I said/ did yesterday... My grandfather said Wiley Coyote was drawn with him in mind, so I figured I inherited it at least!
