Always thought it got that way from pulling one's self on the tractor, putting weight on it and bending the spokes It's a real pain to try and get the center cap right and stay. All my tractors are like that. Yes large diameter two spokers being the worst. Guess the only thing I can think of is put it in an oven & heat it up to try and get the plastic somewhat pliable. Temp would have to be just right and right pressure on the rim/spokes. Best to practice on a scrap wheel. Never tried it always too chicken$hit but in resto work where's there a will there's a way. Thermoform plastic becomes soft when heated. Thermoset plastic is hard after molding - it will burn, but not soften like thermoform. 1 Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

When I was restoing a 1067 it had nice big diameter two spoke but it was white. I got blind out house lucky and got a really nice black one from A-Z but still had to get the old one off the shaft. Before I got a press. So i tried heating up the shaft up and the plastic did get soft that's where I came up with my notion. Looks like Dixson has a press ... WHX?? 50,566 #6 Posted February 9 (edited) If it's gonna be a really nice resto to get the center cap to stay on grind off two opposing tabs on the cap and silicone to hold it on. Only the very discerning eye will notice it and if they say any thing tell them to pack sand find me a NOS wheel. I lost it twice on my 1045 but luckily it fell in the tunnel instead of the woods. Mines sitting in the press in the picture it just has the blocks under it I just lowered the press to put the wheel in and then picked it back up to set it up but I was able to take my dash off luckily Edited February 9 by Dixon632000 Needed to add more Share this post Link to post Share on other sites
