GT-1848 Wiring

Recommended Posts

Okay so I know the GT series was Wheel horses attempt to have a less expensive tractor.  I guess when it came to wiring they took a lesson form Henry Ford...You can have whatever color you like...so long as it is black.  #gwest_ca has done a magnificent job colorizing many wiring diagrams.  GT-1848 would be easy...all black  and skinny almost feel like 18 ga but I guess it is 16ga..  If this tractor works out she may get a complete rewire in Living color.  I am not going all in till I get the opportunity top get her really hot and see about the hydro  She had a red WH filter.  Also guess the PO didn't own a grease gun.  Steering sector was bone dry and zerk was encased in dry dirt.

I am quite used to all black wiring. Every wire in the generators that work on are black. They do have numbers printed on them...at least until you touch them.:( Not saying where they have the printing put on them (we'll just say it's below the Texas border) but I do know that it rubs off very easily. To make matters worse, we have a wire printer in house that does a great job. Only way to remove the numbers from our printer is with brake cleaner & a lot of scrubbing.

Continuity meter and a couple sheets of Brady tags is the way to go. You need ultrabright lighting and good eyesight to see those tracer lines and determine their color.

Funny, my GT1600 has a very colourful wire harness.

Go figure.

Picture is after I cleaned it up and changed things around a bit but the basic harness had all coloured wires.
