One cause of friction in our household is when I go down to the basement to get tools/parts and leave the door at the top of the stairs ajar knowing I'll have my hands too full when I come up to turn the knob. If while I’m down there my spouse walks by, she will “helpfully” fully close the door. I've resisted putting lever-style passage latches on that door because we often have small children as visitors and those are too easily operated. Now, aiming for domestic tranquility.
