kpinnc 13,016 #1 Posted Thursday at 03:35 AM I often have to drag tools all over the place here, and it seems like multiple trips just always happen. I've been looking to make a cart with larger wheels so I can take it out in the yard. Of course my big toolbox is too stinking heavy to move around beyond the garage, so I needed something smaller. I got a horror fright gift card for Christmas, so I used it to get one of thier little carts. Found one that matches my big tool box. And yeah, I like orange... If I figure out a decent decal design, I'll make an orange wheel horse. Haters feel free to say something, but it will be my ugly tractor! So anyway I'm making a subframe that uses flat-free tires that are 9-10 inches in diameter. It will have wheel horse front spindles, but a smaller front axle and pull like a wagon. Got the front axle fabbed up today, and matched the camber so the spindles will work. Tomorrow I'll make the rest of the frame. Hopefully I'll be done with it in a day or two. 6 6

Now we all know there’s no such thing an ugly Wheel Horse to this crowd. Just be kind and use some Regal Red and Linen White accents so the poor horse doesn’t get too confused.

If I ever make an orange one it will look nice. Definitely gonna have linen white. Kinda doubtful on the red accents... Went ahead and laid out the frame. Still gotta weld in the front pivot and back Wheel mounts. Edited Thursday at 05:22 AM by kpinnc 8

LMAO.... @oliver2-44 @WHX?? @SylvanLakeWH I do truly believe an orange Wheel Horse would look great. But... I have a "thing" for not painting one the color of another brand. 1

What camber did you aim for with the cart? Best I could measure was about 12 degrees of camber. Of course these spindles aren't the best I've seen, but the wheels set pretty close to perfectly vertical so I guess it's close enough. I'll measure again when the axle is on a flat surface and post it here. 1

I don't know if you will be using a tie rod, but if you are you might want to search Ackerman steering. 2
kpinnc 13,016 #11 Posted Sunday at 06:29 AM I decided to widen this thing out so I could tow it behind a tractor if I need to. No sense dumping my tools all over the yard. Might look a little silly but I made it this way on purpose. The front axle pivots like a wheel horse axle. I'll probably swap the spindles for some longer ones since some dummy cut them too short to begin with. And 12 degrees looks to be about right on the camber. Ran out of paint, so this is it for tonight. 3

Don't go digging yet, but if you find some let me know. I found one, I think the left side. But of course I can't find the other.

kpinnc 13,016 #20 Posted Sunday at 11:50 PM Got some assembly done today. Still gotta build the handle/ hitch and fab some tie rods. But this will be the setup. Paint looks kinda awful. Oh well, it's gonna get dirty anyway. 2
ebinmaine 69,554 #21 Posted 13 hours ago The trailer/cart is kinda like a haywagon. I've seen those done with two Wheelhorse frames bolted back to back. Wish I could find the pics... I've been considering building one.

Nice fabrication on the chassis It's pretty wide for that reason, and so if I tow it with a tractor it won't tip. Any heavy items will ride in the bottom. But I despise walking back and forth to the garage. I can drop in the tools I expect to use and pull like a wagon one trip instead of many.
