Hmmm.... IF you load it by flipping the hitch drawbar up and the have to lever it down onto the ball, there is a potential to have it get away from you , suddeny go vertical due to the weight of the log, & clock you in the face..... :text-bump: Most folks would only do that once..... :ranting:

@ri702bill  would make that  drawbar set up  , on a  mount area  swing point , can easily see that , also think my grandson  could easily figure that out , he would be doing the welding , adding  his own  insight , pete

Some designs, there are some pictured in the search, have a rail that the chain set rides on.  You load it all up chained tight with the skidder backed up a ways.  When you pull forward, the chain rides up and lifts the log.  Now if we could only figure out what size chain would stand up to a Wheel Horse… :confusion-confused:  :lol:
