Six More Weeks

Recommended Posts

Ed Kennell

It's official, Phil saw his shadow yesterday and crawled back into his burrow to sleep.

The Punxsutawney  whistle pig predicted 6 more weeks of winter weather.

But... but... PETA says Phil shouldn't be exploited in such a dehumanizing manner... :angry-tappingfoot:

oh wait, Phil's not human... but... but... oh dear... I'm not sure I can trust his prognostications if he's not a card carrying member of WRONG - Weather Reporters of National Government (Formerly NOAA)... :scared-eek:

And Governor Shapiro, rightly IMO, declined PETA's idea of replacing Phil with..... *checks notes*...... cake.

:confusion-confused:          Seems that Phil is about as accurate as the local weather man and Phil doesn't have radar and computers to help him get it wrong.

Phil has been predicting the weather for nearly 140 years, but practice might not quite make perfect. Between 2014 and 2023, Phil was right 30% of the time, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration says. He was correct in predicting a longer winter in 2014 and an early spring in 2016 and 2020.

PETA: People Ennoying the Audience. Piss-off Everyone that's Around.

It's supposed to be some sort of 'gender-reveal' type garbage with pink or blue insides of the cake for warm or cold or some stupidity.

I've always lived in New England.

I've never seen a "Spring is here" switch that flips March 17th.

I'D LOVE TO HAVE ONLY SIX MORE WEEKS OF WINTER!!!!!

We technically don't have "Spring" here either. We have a season that comes between Winter and Road Work, lasts about 2 week, sometimes 4, and the locals call it "Mud".

May be a good thing.  Historically,  Phil has been correct 35% of the time. :-|

Yep like Jim said...

And as a Heavy Truck driver here in Maine and New Hampshire we also call it - Posted Road Season.
