My best and worst meals when working in Graz, Austria.

   best

Schweinschnitzel with scalloped potatoes and Austrian white asparagus in brown butter sauce and a flakey buttery Austrian croissant with raspberry jam.

  worst

Schweinsaxle soup with lard bread

No matter how many times I went to Austria,  when I returned home, I was always asked " how many kangaroos did you see"?

channeled my your inner Parisian baker today and say “oui” to these buttery treats

Channeled my inner Parisian today.

Ran out and picked up croissants for my wife and I. Thanks for the suggestions.

Back on the food topic.     When visiting Austria, do try the  sweinsaxle (pigs foot) soup and lard bread at Herr Pflegers.

During my visits to Wien, I did try everything suggested by my hosts. At least six different schnitzels but (whew!) they skipped this soup--probably they couldn’t forget it either!

have a local  deli , bake shop that makes these

Our local Giant Food Bakery makes a round version of these.    They call it a Cronut.  A flaky layered croissant dough shaped like a round doughnut.
