Steering Wheel end cap removal.

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to remove the cap with out destroying it?  This is about my only horse that still has a cap.  Got the roll pin out but need to get cap off.

The plastic used on those is very thin. I've never been able to remove it without breaking.

But WheelHorse 3D makes a nice replacement...

I've seen a wheel that shape  that didn't have a removable cap. Solid top.

I think the cap is going...besides no cap makes it easier to squirt a little lube on it once and awhile ...makes removal in the future easier...

Got the cap off drilled a couple holes and pried... but there was solid plastic under it down to the start of the steering shaft ...over an inch of plastic....

I don't think the one on my 1985 312 is removable, don't see a seam, looks solid to me.

To my knowledge once the roll pin is out there isnt anything under the steering wheel to retain it.

True except for 40 years of corrosion and to use a puller have to access the end of the shaft
