953 nut 57,581 #1 Posted January 25 National IV Nurse Day is observed every year on January 25 to celebrate infusion nurses and other healthcare workers whose roles are so vital to our society. Though this holiday has been in existence for over forty years, its importance only becomes more and more evident as the years go by. Brave nurses stand at the forefront of the battle against diseases and I.V. nurses have a crucial role to play here too. The first blood transfusion given to a human is performed in Paris, France. In 1667. Marriot and Kekwick introduce the slow-drip method of blood transfusion in 1935 National IV Nurse Day is created by the United States House of Representatives in 1981. 1 4

JCM 9,993 #4 Posted January 25 That's an expensive drip and one of my favorites. May want to try LTD Canadian or Fleischmann's, both blended, although it may develop a skip. @SylvanLakeWH 1 1
Beap52 1,141 #5 Posted January 26 I watched a show about Leonardo da Vinci on PBS. It was amazing all of the subjects he studied during his lifetime from mid 1400's until 1519. What was interesting to me was his drawing of the anatomy of the human body. In one instance a elderly man died. Leonardo was curious as to why the man was alive and functioning one day and the next dead. Leonardo dissected the dead man and discovered hardening of he arteries. His very detailed drawing were used by doctors and professors for many years. Without refrigeration, he had about three days to dissect and detail in drawings his subjects. Our medical personnel have a huge impact upon each and every one of us. Yes, mistakes are made (a nurse that overheated a hot compress and caused mom to have 3rd degree burns on her stomach but that nurse learned by her mistakes--the same way much of my education has been attained.) Nearly every person in medicine, that I've met, has been very professional and caring.
