Achto 28,082 #1 Posted January 20 A while back @WHX?? & I made a road trip to trade with @Chrishar. I traded him my 753 for his 633. He did an excellent job with the 753, now it's time for me to tackle the 633. The engine runs good, but I will still pull the head to take a look inside. Tranny shifts good and does not seem to leak. The 3/4" bar for the foot rests will need to be replaced, but so far it looks like it will mainly be a paint over haul. Picture of ground zero. A couple of hours later I had it broken down to a pile of parts and a bucket of bolts. Will do my best to keep you all up to date on this journey. 4

Sides with temps reaching a high of 1f today & dipping to -18f tonight it don't really pay to heat the shop up for a couple hours. Sit back, relax, munch on some meat & cheese, there will be up dates this weekend. 1 3

Lane Ranger 11,057 #14 Posted January 21 My brother David bought this 633 about 15 years ago for $60. It had a bad motor so we decided to put a Kohler 8 hp recoil start in it . I used this for mowing with a front reel mower and plowing snow in the winter. i love the way this machine handles. Yes we still have this and glad to see you working on one of these Dan! They are one of the really good round hood models! 4
Achto 28,082 #15 Posted January 27 (edited) This weekend evolved a bit of side tracking. Saturday I took on a job painting the inside of a 26 x 26 x 12 garage. After spraying 10 gal of primer and then spraying 20 gal of paint, back rolling and I don't know how many trips up & down a ladder. Need less to say, I was all in all done for the day. Not the best pic, but it did happen. With making extra tractor $ out of the way, I moved on to my projects. First project this morning, get some heat in my work beater. For the last few weeks the temp gauge has hardly moved and the temp at the heater vents has only been reaching an average of 74 degrees. Perfect for traveling in sub zero weather. A new thermostat and now the temp gauge runs more towards the center and the temp at the heater vents is reaching 134 degrees. MUCH BETTER. Should make my commute more bearable, Now on to some tractor stuff. First off take care of the previous repairs that were done to the 3/4" foot rest bar. Not poo pooing the repair, it kept the tractor in service. Not sure what happened to render the need for the pipe welded over the right hand side. Guessing the left side must have broken free of the frame. After a bunch of grinding the old bar was out of the way. New bar burned in place. Just to make sure there will not be future issues with this bar, I also added some gussets to it. After that repair I still had some time to degrease and blast a few parts. All the excitement that I have to share for this weekend. Edited January 27 by Achto 5

That is pretty crazy to need those kind of repairs unless you are solidly hitting stuff with the foot bars I wouldn't think there would be that much stress on them. Especially being a 3/4 bar that is pretty thick metal to just bend. 1

With the old compressor the blaster would over take it and you would have to wait for the compressor to catch up. Break Time !! The new compressor catches up with the blaster, goes into idle mode for about 2min, kicks back in, passes the blaster again, and goes to idle mode etc. NO More Break Times !! You just keep on hammerin' along Edited January 28 by Achto 1 1

Achto 28,082 #22 Posted January 28 (edited) Well in all honesty, I guess I will get a break every 3hrs when I have to go out & dump 2 gallons of gas in it. Less than $3 per hour. Price I have to pay to maintain 125psi non-stop at the blaster. The pressure at the compressor never drops below 150psi. 1.5hrs to go before the first 5hr oil change on the engine. Recommended every 50hrs after that. 50hrs for first oil change on the pump, every 100hrs after that. I may shorten these intervals though. Oil is cheaper than engines & pumps. So far, very happy with the purchase. Edited January 29 by Achto 3 4
Achto 28,082 #23 Posted yesterday at 12:13 AM Weekend update... Sand blasting reviled a little surprise on one of the fenders. Drilled holes at the end of the cracks in preparation for repair. After the repair. If you look at the top of the fender, you can see line where the seat was rubbing on it. Nothing worse than doing a resto on a round hood and then having the seat rub through your new paint job. To remedy this I make a lift kit to put under the seat. It's only 1/2" thick but that's all it takes to keep the seat off the fenders. The spacer I made for under the seat. The peg drops in one hole to keep it from spinning. At the end of the weekend I have everything that would fit in the blast cabinet cleaned up. It took almost as long to blast the rear rims as it took to blast all the other pieces combined. Note - only thing that would not fit was the frame. The gas tank and recoil starter would have fit in the blast cabinet but I chose to not blast them. Didn't want sand intrusion in either of them. Instead I chose to strip them with a DA sander. Even sprayed a little paint today, very little but it still counts. Would be nice to do some painting next weekend but I don't think that will be in the cards, as I have other engagements. Might still have time to get something done though. 1

We raised the blast cabinet up on 4x4's. Game changer ! Much more comfortable now, plus the 4x4's added a raised point to put your one foot on. 1
