JCM 9,993 #1 Posted January 18 Curious if anyone was fortunate to have purchased either one of these excellent models new and what the cost would have been. I'm thinking around 23 to 2500 with deck ? Maybe 3 of these new compared to one of the same year 420 - LSE with 48'' deck.
Lee1977 7,000 #2 Posted January 18 (edited) My guess is that a 417-8 was over $3200 in 1987. I paid $2200 for a new 1977 C-120-8 with a 48" deck. Edited January 18 by Lee1977
CCW 1,329 #3 Posted January 18 Believe my father paid around $3000 for a 1989 312-8 and more for the deck and plow.

The 417 had a two year run, 1985 & 86. In 1987 it went to a one year 418 with the Magnum engine. Also my C 120-8 was a one owner tractor and I remember it was very close to that amount when new with deck. Thanks again.

I still have a 312-8 that I bought new for $ 3400 with 42''SD deck, chrome hubcaps and a WH tractor cover. Also in 1989. Thank You.
MainelyWheelhorse 958 #6 Posted January 19 (edited) @JCM My paperwork from when my 312 was new in June of 1992, if I remember right was around 3200 with a 37” SD deck added in. Edited January 19 by MainelyWheelhorse 2
T-Mo-(Moderator) 4,539 #7 Posted January 19 From 1989, this might get you an idea of prices for 1986:
Racinbob 11,683 #8 Posted January 19 I purchased my 1976 B-80 with a 36" rd deck, a snow thrower and a headlight kit for just under $1700. That was right after the blizzard of '78. Obviously being a leftover machine was reflected in the price.

I had just started my Plumbing & Heating business in 1987 and a year later ordered a 1988 Chevy chassis cab 1 ton dually with a Reading utility body with panel top for around $ 23,000. Fortunately WH had a financing plan and my good friend and dealer made it work for me. Some of the best $$$$$$$ I have ever spent and still owning that great machine 36 years later. 2

Sparky-(Admin) 21,928 #12 Posted January 19 Wrong year I know. But it’s all I have to offer. This is a newspaper ad that was jammed in with all the paperwork included with a tractor I bought years ago.

Then figure HD 3500 Dually, 4 wheel drive with Aluminum body set up ??? One can only imagine. Just to go out and clean plugged toilets I'm thinking that 52,000 is very light. clueless 3,105 #19 Posted January 21 My '89 312-8 with the 37" side discharge deck was a little over $3400 out the door.
dcrage 629 #20 Posted January 21 My memory from buying in 1990 was for a given tractor series (300 in my case) it was approximately $200 for each 2 hp increase and $2-300 for each step up in mower size.
JCM 9,993 #21 Posted January 22 Found some notes today and I answered my own question. This is from my Wheel Horse dealer. My 1986 417-8 when new with 42'' RD deck was $ 2625.00 plus tax. i bought it in 2011 with 480 hours with a 1996 37'' RD mower deck model # 78305 and a 17 CF dump cart. If the Hein-Warner lift would stop breaking my 855 would be a pretty trouble-free machine.
Easton Rich 455 #23 Posted January 23 My grandfather bought my 418-a new in 1988 for $3599 with a 42in sd deck. I would show the paperwork but I can’t find it
Blasterdad 3,005 #24 Posted January 23 @JCM Jackpot, I bought this tractor from from a gentleman about 3 years ago, the original owner sold it to him as part of the estate. It came with ALL the original receipts, manuals, brocures, tags on the tractor, & service records! Let's start here... It appears he purchased the tractor with a 42" deck in the fall of '85 for $3,599.00, decided to get the Trac Vac first for $725.00 & trade the hubcaps for wheel weights, then two months later purchase the 42" snowblower & chains... Here are just some of them, way too much to post. PM me your address if you'd like to have them
