Given how badly destroyed that is I'd be looking for a whole transmission.

What exactly caused this?

I doubt it. The Eaton hydro uses different bearings for the carrier.

I see a reddish color on the teeth of the bull gear. Did that 8-speed have ATF in it?

You could post a Wanted Ad in the Classified Section here or,
One of our vendors “A-Z Tractor listed in the vendor section can help you with parts.

Tractor pulling with a 70 horsepower Kohler twin (souped up and dynoed). The red you see is Red Line heavy shockproof oil. It's a gear oil that is better than 80w 90. Here is the 520H that I was looking at on EBay. I've been pulling this tractor for 8 years now this is the first time the transaxle has broke.

That's a hellacious testament to the ruggedosity of a Wheelhorse!!

As for getting another one...

CALL    Lincoln at A to Z Tractor in PA.

He'll treat you right.

Use the phone.

Not the website.

He's extremely busy all year and admits he can't update the site like he should.

Is running over an official at the pull considered a NO - NO ?                    :scared-eek:

Do those 4 U-shaped notches around the outside serve a purpose?  It appears that they contribute greatly to the failure.  Is there room to add a solid steel girdle ring on the face of the cap?  At great expense you could make alloy steel parts to replace the cast ones.

I don't see a purpose for the u shaped notches. I thought about a ring along the outside of capbut look at my first picture of the broken cap while it is still assembled. There isn't enough room for a socket or wrench to tighten the four bolts that bolt it all together. If I can get a few more years out of it I'll be satisfied. I'm 68, 8 more years I'll probably be done pulling.

If you mean 4 mph there is no speed limit in the classes I pull in. I've run as fast as 13.3 pulling with running in the 10's and 11's fairly normal.  There are some in my class with more power and speed than me. It's all fun.

I forget but I'm thinking the pull in the video was in the high 10's or 11's. Our association has an led board with speed and distance.

That is exactly what I was thinking. Machining them out of S-7 tool steel to eliminate the problem. S-7 is a shock resistant steel used to make drifts, punches, etc.
