JCM 9,776 #1 Posted January 11 On page 9 of the 1988 & 89 WH brochure is the Black portion of the grille that had the black paint over the red. WH called it the Black Mask. What are you guy's using for black paint. Possibly semi-gloss ? Over the years I have tried a few different shades. On my next refurb I would like to get close to the original shade. Thanks @c-series don @cleat
ebinmaine 69,272 #2 Posted January 11 I'll be looking forward to seeing the answers here. The standard sheens I'm aware of are: Flat or matte, satin, semi-gloss, gloss. My Cinnamon Horse C160-8 is a satin.
c-series don 9,179 #3 Posted January 11 (edited) I have only done one restoration with that style hood. I believe the correct color is a semigloss, but when I restored my Work Horse I went with gloss because I like ‘em shiny!! On the 400 series tractors I have I can’t honestly tell if it’s semigloss or satin? However the LSE appears to be gloss. I’m not sure if this helps or leaves you more confused 🤔!! Figured I’d throw it some pictures because I know you guys like pictures but it’s hard to tell from them? Edited January 11 by c-series don 3
JCM 9,776 #4 Posted January 11 You have me really confused now. Still have one eye on the black mask and the other on that poster. Thanks Don. I'm not sure which is correct. I have done both semi and gloss. Also Satin. And yet, still confused.

Thanks @c-series don @cleat On my latest Work Horse I think I used semigloss black but then sprayed clear gloss over the entire hood so it is glossy now.
