giantsean 59 #1 Posted Friday at 06:48 PM Hi All, I am looking at selling some D series implements which I rarely or never use, to free up some space. I had acquired but not used a 48" snowblower model 6-7451 which I had never mounted or fully assembled. I managed to locate all the parts but one, which is listed as a "crank rod extension" in the manual (item 52 in the diagram below). I am also missing the eyelet that I presume just threads into the housing (there is a female "hole") which I am assuming is easier to replace. What I'm trying to do is get a good look/picture of the missing piece and how they work together. There are no photos of the part and very few of the whole assembly (or the unit in fact). If anyone has one and doesn't mind to take a few pics, it would be greatly appreciated! Side question about if I really can't find/acquire another one, how hard would one be to fabricate? The crank rod itself is just a piece of bent square stock which I assume fits into a square hole in the extension rod. I imagine with some effort something could be rigged up to work. I have to admit the entire mechanism seems overly simplistic, but that's true of a lot of the old stuff. The eye bolt appears to simply pull or push the housing left or right just by it's own threads... which is fine I guess if you have one long enough to allow a full range of motion. Thanks for any help!
gwest_ca-(File Mod) 11,121 #2 Posted Saturday at 03:31 PM The hook on the center rod mates with the hook on the snowthrower and makes a universal joint so to speak to turn the short shaft which controls the cable around the chute. I did something similar on another make using 3/8" x 12" keystock inside 1/2" square tubing. Needed a link that would allow the snowthrower to go up and down without putting pressure on the cab. I added an old 12DC cordless drill powered by the tractor to turn the chute. It is a little fast but has worked for about 6 years. The drill is mounted upside down so the drill forward-reverse matches the chute left and right. Item #47 is the lower hook that turns in item #42 that mounts to the flat angle bracket to the left of the chute base. Items # 51 and 52 are square stock with one slipping inside the other allowing the snowthrower to raise and lower.

(having an actual look at the way it's put together, I guess it's pretty obvious lol). So it just pulls or lets it hang based on how much turning of the threads (that's gotta take all day!)
