Something doesn’t line up right on my 401

Hi

im trying to reinstall the trans in my 401 and the brake adjustment arm doesn’t line up right. ( should of taken pictures) what am I doing wrong?

Looks like he's got the 5003 tranny with the 90 brake tab. Not sure how the brake rod looks on those. I don't think you have the right one Maynard.

@Maynardb I think the rod from the peddle goes in the top hole and the rod to the band goes in the bottom hole. ??

No all hidden by the tire or fender. I thought it had a 5010 tranny anyway... could be wrong

Some one don't chime in I'll run down to the hauler and look. That's where it's winter quarters is.

You sure that's a 401 @Maynardb ??

 

That tranny went out in '59.

I’m pretty sure it is. It has a Lauson H55 motor , but I figured it out anyway. Turns out the parts trans ( which this is mostly may be from an RJ 58 perhaps)  does not have the same side cover. The location where the brake bolts to, is in a different click position than the original trans so I’ll have to switch side covers to set it up like original. thanks for checking in about it.

Definitely a 5010 linkage. Here's the 5003.
