Fuel spewing out above carburetor

Recommended Posts

So.. Smelled fuel in my garage and thought it was a leaking fuel pump.  Checked gasket and retightened.  Turns out it wasn’t that but fuel was spewing from a “vent” above the carburetor…

Your needle and seat is stuck open allowing fuel to keep overfilling.

A carb rebuild is needed along with replacing ALL fuel lines and switching to non ethanol gas so the lines won't be degraded again.

Fairly simple operation if done well.

Thanks.  New fuel lines and generally don’t use ethanol.  Suggestions on a rebuild kit?

I use only Kohler kits.

You'll need the carb kit, base gasket, and an air cleaner gasket at minimum.

Carefully check the upper throttle shaft bore for looseness.

Note the following:

Take note that ANY ethanol can damage the lines.

We loaned our splitter out to good friends. They used standard infested gasoline. After only a couple tanks of that trash we had to disassemble, clean out and replace the gaskets, remove and flush the gas tank.

You'll need to do that too.

Here's a recent thread I made:
