That's why we bought the 100,000 mile, bumper to bumper extended warranty. It was an additional $2500, but I can't image how much something like that would cost if not covered.

Good move on that. I was lucky the PO had the warranty and it transferred to me.

I've had no issues that aren't age related with this Honda... My 91 Fourtrax 300 4x4.

It's not only the cost of repairing these electronics it's the availability of parts. Some of these "entertainment /  convenience modules aren't supported after they get a few years on them. One of the only choices you have is to find a used one and send it to a shop who can flash it to your VIN #

I seem to remember that we had to keep our tooling for steel wheels in usable condition for 7 years after the last regular production run.

I wonder what the requirement is lately for the electrical doo dad tooling?

@Horse Newbie  nice looking unit !  question , have any penetrating lubricant  in / on those body seams ?  so easy  and metal saving , regular thing for me to see , here in conn, its body disintegrating at  every joint or lower seam  cab  bottom . personally , a couple of gals  of mineral oil , or open cable , gear oil , imbedded into any open frame , seam area , imagine  how a leaf spring would work , live with gear oil instead of solid rust . just saw a relatively new unit gassing  up , every related lower edge body panel , was flapping  in the wind with unsupported  rot thru . its so easy , yet , just don,t care . have a good new year , pete

Nope @peter lena , no any kind of lubricant or spray put underneath the body or undercarriage other than the regular maintenance of greasing ball joints, universal joints and such…

Thanks for the tip and the compliment on my truck…

I guess with the very limited amount of salt and slag used in the south we don’t have problems of rust run amuck on our vehicles.

I will say that right now I am in WV where they do use a lot of salt and slag. When I return to the land of Dixie I will thoroughly rinse the underside of the vehicle with a garden hose.

@Horse Newbie   another thing we use up here in snow country is a  road spraying  ice assist , incredibly bad for  just about any metals , would not  hesitate to  lube protect  anything , when you really see it is just after snow is getting plowed , and sloppy roads are bathing your ride in salt ,  also regularly , have a hose handy to flush off the grunge . like driving vermont  , brutal salt build up , stay after it .pete

When I had to go to upstate NY in the winter a couple years ago when I got home I strapped my pressure washer rotating head attachment to a creeper and slid it under the truck, fired up the pressure washer and gave the whole underside (and myself) a good bath.

The problem is if that screen goes out you're SOL until it's replaced. I had a Dodge Dart with that issue. No heat or ANYTHING! (it was winter too)

My 80yr old parents Just got a 2025 Outback Onyx Touring. They can't figure anything out. My 21yr old son has been there multiple times trying to help them. It's a nice car but I dont like that critical item controls are dependent on screen for controls. At least my CT5 Cadillac has secondary controls for climate & radio functions.

Last Honda I owned. I just kept up with changing fluids and putting gas in it. Never left me stranded or never not started on me. Cant say the same for my HD riding buddies at the time. I also have nothing really bad to say about a few Honda mowers I have owned. Not the easiest things to work on but they never needed much work. At least they were red.

I had a Gold Wing followed by a Harley Electra Glide Ultra then a Road King Classic. Both the Harleys gave me no trouble.  Had a battery short out on the Gold Wing so it quit while on interstate.
